Structure and Committees of WEFDA

The Worldwide Empowering Fashion and Designers Association (WEFDA) is structured to ensure effective governance, clear leadership, and active participation of its members. Our organizational structure is designed to promote collaboration, accountability, and progress across all areas of the association. Below is a detailed overview of the structure and the committees that drive the mission and vision of WEFDA.

1. Governing Body

At the highest level, WEFDA is governed by a Board of Directors and an Executive Leadership Team, which provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure that the association achieves its goals.

Board of Directors
  • Role: The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance of WEFDA. It sets the strategic vision, approves major initiatives, and ensures that the association operates within its mission and values.
  • Composition: The board is composed of senior industry professionals, thought leaders, and designers from various sectors of the fashion industry. Members are selected for their expertise in fashion, sustainability, business, and global affairs.
  • Duties: The board approves budgets, policies, and major projects, and ensures compliance with legal and ethical standards. It also works closely with the Executive Leadership Team to guide the association’s long-term strategy.
Executive Leadership Team
  • Role: The Executive Leadership Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of WEFDA’s operations. This team implements the strategic goals set by the Board of Directors and ensures that the association’s initiatives are executed effectively.
  • Key Positions:
    • President/CEO: Oversees all aspects of WEFDA’s activities and is the public face of the organization.
    • Vice Presidents: Manage specific departments such as Membership, International Relations, Finance, and Sustainability.
    • Chief Operating Officer (COO): Oversees operational activities, ensuring that programs and events run smoothly.
    • Chief Financial Officer (CFO): Manages the financial health of the organization, including budgeting, funding, and financial planning.
    • Chief Marketing Officer (CMO): Leads marketing, communications, and public relations efforts to promote WEFDA’s mission and engage with the public.

2. Standing Committees

WEFDA’s work is driven by several standing committees that focus on specific areas critical to the success of the association. These committees are composed of members from diverse backgrounds and expertise, ensuring that WEFDA’s initiatives reflect the needs of the global fashion community.

Sustainability and Ethical Fashion Committee
  • Purpose: This committee is dedicated to advancing sustainability within the fashion industry by promoting environmentally conscious practices and ethical production methods.
  • Responsibilities:

    • Create partnerships with sustainable brands, suppliers, and organizations.

Education and Professional Development Committee

Innovation and Technology Committee

4. Regional Chapters and Ambassadors

Regional Chapters
